Let us take a look at the example of 2 seas.
In one sea there is abundant life, while in another there is no life at all.
As we can probably recall, the Dead Sea is a Lake, not a sea.
It’s very high in salt content that the human body can float easily in it.
You can almost lie down completely relaxed and read a book!
The salt in the Dead Sea is as high as 35% – which is almost ten times the normal ocean water.
And all that saltiness has meant that there is no life at all in the Dead Sea.
No fish. No vegetation. No sea animals. Nothing lives in the Dead Sea.
Hence it got the name “Dead Sea”.
The other Sea is the “Sea of Galilee”.
The sea of Galilee is just north of the Dead Sea.
Both the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea receive their water from River Jordan and yet, they are very, very different.
Unlike the Dead Sea, the Sea of Galilee is pretty glorious, with rich, colorful marine full of abundant life.
There are lots of plants and lots of fish too.
The Sea of Galilee is home to over twenty-five different types of fish.
Same region, and the same water source, and yet while one sea is full of abundant life, the other is dead.
How come? Interesting right?
Here is the reason. The River Jordan flows into the Sea of Galilee and then it flows out.
The water passes through the Sea of Galilee in and then out and that keeps the sea healthy and vibrant, overflowing with lots of marine life.
But the Dead Sea is so far below the average sea level that it has no outlet. There are no outlet streams.
The water flows in from the River Jordan but does not flow out.
It is estimated that over 7 million tons of water evaporate from the Dead Sea every day, leaving it very salty – Too much full of minerals and unfit for any marine life.
The Dead Sea takes water from the River Jordan and holds it. It does not give.
The result? No life at all! Think about it!!
Life is not just about getting. It’s also about giving too. We all need to be a bit like the “Sea of Galilee”.
We are very fortunate to get wealth, knowledge, love, and respect. But if we don’t learn to give, we could all end up like the “Dead Sea”.
The love, respect, wealth, knowledge, and happiness could all evaporate like the water in the Dead Sea.
The results can be disastrous if we get the Dead Sea’s selfish mentality of merely taking in more water, without giving anything.
The mindset for abundant life and happiness
Most people tend to be like the Dead sea, trying to get more money, more of everything, and not giving anything to anyone.
They don’t even care to give a smile to a stranger or a helping hand to the needy.
Everybody pretends to live a busy life, trying to accumulate more things in life.
If you watch closely, you can see that they are living a miserable life.
They are sorrow-ridden. Unhappy!!
They are searching for peace and happiness everywhere.
They will not find it in their lifetime unless they change their selfish mindset.
It would be a good idea to ensure that we have outlets in the sea of our own life. So many outlets!
For love and wealth and everything else that we get in our life.
Let’s make sure we don’t just accumulate. Let us learn to give to have a blessed and abundant life.
Conclusion:
The art of giving for an abundant life
We live in a world full of givers and takers where takers operate in the receive mode and givers in deliver or sharing mode.
Takers absorb themselves things from the world and accumulate everything to them. They won’t give anything to anyone.
It can be material things or emotions like Love, Respect, etc from others. They always feel scarcity in their life and are never satisfied with what they have. They want “more” of everything.
The more they accumulate with greediness, the more they feel scarce. Life is misery for takers. What they accumulate are pain and suffering.
This is the reason why diseases happen to people. They are like the “Dead Sea”. No Life at all.
On the other hand, givers functions in Abundance. They give what they have wholeheartedly.
The more the giver gives, the more it comes to them.
As a result, they live a successful and abundant life. They feel more complete, energetic, and happy. They are like the “Sea of Galilee”.
They feel alive. Life is happening for “givers”.
Note: Letting go and giving are two different things. Letting go is giving away half-hearted. “Giving” is to give wholeheartedly.
Now ask yourself which one you are?
Are you the “Dead sea” or the “Sea of Galilee”?
Let’s open the taps and the floodgates, and happiness will unlock on its own.
Let’s make it a routine to share and experience abundant life!
Did You Know?
The first car equipped with the three-point belt system was sold on August 13, 1959, by Volvo Cars to a customer in Sweden.
Seat belts were invented by Volvo Cars, and they quickly made them available to the world to help protect lives.
If you consider how many lives it has saved, the Volvo seat belt is perhaps the greatest automotive safety feature ever invented.
Yet instead of sticking to the technology patent and enjoying the huge amount they would have earned, Volvo company decided to leave the patent open, allowing all other automotive manufacturers to use it for free.
Over one million lives are estimated to have been saved by this invention, which is regarded as the most significant traffic safety innovation ever invented.
Today the world thinks very highly of Volvo because of that one act.
They truly earn people’s respect. This is a great example of the art of giving.
